The Cato Institute, a free-market libertarian think tank based in Washington DC, created a provocative video making the case for the illumination of the US Department of Education. While we do not totally agree with a full and complete elimination of the federal government’s role in education, we do believe that education is better coordinated at the state and local levels. The further removed a government institution is from the interests of parents and students, the less likely it is to fully understand their needs. The US DOE has simply become too bureaucratic.
